Grub screws are used to secure another component by threading into a tapped hole and pressing against the shaft or positioning block, preventing relative sliding between the two parts. After installation, metal set screws may leave a dent or scratch on the surface of the secured component, whereas nylon ones typically do not.

Flat end means that the tail end is flat, with the end face perpendicular to the screw axis and processed smoothly. The contact area of the flat end is larger than that of the tip, and the pressure is lower when pressing against the workpiece, making it difficult to press out marks. What needs to be resisted are soft metals, plastics, PCB boards, etc., with flat ends being the most suitable.
