Steel Hex Socket Set Screw

Our factory produces carbon steel blackened hexagonal pointed set screws, also known as pointed machine screws. The head is hexagonal, and the tail is ground into a conical tip. After screwing into the threaded hole, the tip of the head is used to hold the shaft or positioning pit to prevent the parts from sliding. Carbon steel material, surface treated with blackening, black with thin oil, sufficient rust prevention for indoor equipment. For higher rust prevention, galvanizing can be used, and for higher strength, quenching and tempering treatment can be used.

Product Description

The tip is suitable for being pressed against the plane of the shaft or into a small pre drilled positioning pit on the shaft. The pointed contact area is small, and with the same tightening torque, it can be pressed firmly and pushed more firmly. After entering the positioning pit, the pointed end sinks in, and the shaft will not move axially or rotate. Flat ends are suitable for flat surfaces, while pointed ends are suitable for pits or places that require accurate positioning.

The substrate is carbon steel, with a conventional 45H hardness level and high surface hardness. When pressed against the shaft, the tip is not easily blunt. Blackening treatment, with a uniform black color and a thin layer of rust proof oil on the surface. There is no problem using it in a dry indoor environment, and it will not rust for several years. Blackening has low cost and is cheaper than galvanizing. If used in humid environments or export orders, it can be changed to galvanized or Dacromet.

Inner hexagon does not slip: The depth of the hexagon hole is sufficient, and the wrench can be inserted to the bottom and bite firmly. When tightened, it does not slip and the groove is not easy to round. The set screw has no head and can only rely on the inner hexagon. If the hole is too shallow, the wrench will slide when tightened. Our hole depth is sufficient.

Carbon steel blackening, cheap enough: Carbon steel material has sufficient strength and low blackening treatment cost. Used on indoor equipment, rust prevention is sufficient. It is much cheaper than stainless steel, and large-scale procurement saves costs. For better rust prevention, it can be galvanized, and for higher strength, it can be quenched and tempered.
