Round Wire Snap Rings for Shaft - Type A for Shafts (RW), commonly known as axial steel wire lock washer or round wire axial retaining ring, is an open-ring fastener manufactured in accordance with German standard DIN 7993-1970. It is formed by bending spring steel wire into a circular shape and is installed in the pre-machined circular groove at the end of the shaft to limit the axial displacement of components on the shaft (such as bearings, gears, pulleys). This product is made of 65Mn spring steel and undergoes heat treatment and black (oxidation) or phosphating treatment, featuring high elastic limit and excellent fatigue resistance. The specifications typically cover shaft diameters RW4 to RW125 (i.e., suitable for Ø4mm to Ø125mm shafts).

Product Feature

High elasticity and fatigue resistance: The 65Mn spring steel undergoes quenching and tempering treatment, featuring strong elastic recovery force and the ability to withstand repeated assembly and vibration conditions without easily undergoing plastic deformation.

Circular cross-section design: Different from the flat wire elastic retaining ring, the circular cross-section steel wire provides more uniform groove contact and clamping force, resulting in less wear on the shaft groove.

Standardized interchangeability: Strictly following the DIN 7993A standard, the dimensions and groove tolerances match international general specifications, facilitating replacement and selection.

Installation convenience: Using a dedicated axial retaining ring wrench to expand and install into the groove, relying on its own elastic retraction for locking, and disassembly is also convenient.

Surface treatment: Commonly, it is oxidized black or phosphated, providing basic rust prevention and enhancing surface wear resistance.
