The round through-hole fastening screw is a machine meter screw with a through hole drilled in the middle. The entire screw is hollow from the hexagonal hole in the head to the tail. Other screws are the same as regular set screws - without a head, just a cylinder with an inner hexagon, screwed into a threaded hole to support another part.

What are through holes used for: They have three main purposes. One is to thread steel wire to prevent loosening - after the screw is tightened in place, a steel wire is threaded through the through hole and wound onto the adjacent part to tie it tightly, and the screw cannot rotate. No matter how strong the vibration is, it will never come out on its own. The second is exhaust - in vacuum equipment or hydraulic systems, when tightening screws, the air in the enclosed chamber should be expelled, and the through hole is the exhaust channel. The third is threading - some precision instruments require a thin wire to be threaded through the middle of the screw, and the through-hole is just right for threading.

Through hole threading steel wire, reliable anti loosening: After the screw is tightened in place, the steel wire passes through the through hole and is tied to the adjacent fixing point, and the screw can no longer rotate. Used on vibration equipment, it is more reliable than applying glue or adding elastic pads. Once the steel wire is threaded, it cannot be loosened even if you want to.

Hexagonal drive, tightened: The depth of the hexagonal hole in the head is sufficient, and the hexagonal wrench is inserted to the bottom to apply torque without slipping. The tightening screw has no head and can only be used with an inner hexagon. The hexagonal hole has a straight wall, and the wrench can bite firmly. Even if you tighten it hard, it won't round the hole.
