Hex Head Self Drilling Screws

The difference between self-drilling screws and ordinary self-tapping screws lies in their tails. The tail of an ordinary self-tapping screw is pointed, which relies on the sharp tip to push through materials and can only be used on soft materials such as plastic, wood, and thin aluminum. The tail of a self-drilling screw is a real drill bit - it has cutting edges and a chip flute. It can directly drill holes in iron sheets, steel plates, and aluminum plates, and immediately tap the threads after drilling through. After tapping, it can be tightened immediately.

The drill bit for drilling the tail is separately ground after the screw is formed, featuring a cutting edge and a chip removal groove. The diameter of the drill bit is slightly smaller than the thread root diameter, and the hole drilled is just right for the thread to engage. The drill bit undergoes heat treatment, boasting high hardness, making it capable of drilling ordinary carbon steel plates, galvanized plates, and aluminum plates without any issues. When drilling stainless steel plates, it is necessary to choose a drill bit specifically designed for stainless steel tail screws, operate at a low speed, and apply high pressure, otherwise the drill bit is prone to burning.
