DIN 980 (M) All Metal Lock Nuts

Unlike nylon ring lock nuts - there are no plastic parts inside, it relies on a few pressure points on the top of the nut to squeeze and deform the thread to lock it in place. Resistant to high temperatures, not afraid of oil, not afraid of aging, and the locking force is still present after several disassembly and assembly attempts. Galvanized carbon steel is a common product, but it can also be made of stainless steel or Dacromet.

There are several types in the DIN 980 standard, and the M-type is a full metal locking nut with a pressure point, which is locked by the top thread deformation. There is also a type called DIN 980 V, which comes with nylon rings. M-type is made entirely of metal without plastic parts, so it is resistant to high temperatures, oil, and aging. Nylon rings become soft above 120 degrees, while M-shaped ones are fine even at a few hundred degrees.

The locking force of the nylon ring is uniform, and the disassembly and assembly feel is good, but it is afraid of high temperature and oil. All metal is not afraid of high temperatures, and M-shaped flanges are used next to the engine exhaust pipe, oven equipment, and high-temperature pipelines. And all metal without plastic, it can be used with peace of mind on food equipment and medical devices. The disadvantage is that if there are too many disassembly and assembly times, the pressure point will wear out, and the locking force will gradually decrease. The nylon ring can be replaced after a few disassembly times, but if the all metal is worn out, the nut needs to be replaced.

All metal, resistant to high temperatures and not afraid of oil: there are no nylon rings inside, it's all made of metal. Contact with oil stains will not cause swelling and failure like nylon.

Lock the pressure points tightly, and there is still force after disassembling a few times: the top few pressure points deform the threads, and after screwing them in, the pressure points stretch and tighten the bolts. Disassemble and reassemble, the pressure point can still provide locking force, and there is no problem disassembling and reassembling three to five times. It is stronger than glue, and the glue will fail after being removed once.
